OPINION: Today marks the start of ‘Regenuary’, a month-long campaign founded by the dubious Ethical Butcher in response to Veganuary’s “overly simplistic narrative” regarding animal agriculture. Emotions always run high, but is regenerative farming truly incompatible with veganism, or is there common ground rooted in very sensible dialogue?

Someone really needs to give the Ethical Butcher - champions of so-called ‘ethical meat’ - a lesson on how to handle their social media because the cracks are showing. From the defensive and the passive-aggressive replies to actually going on vegans’ Instagram posts and being downright snarky, the #Regenuary gang are outraged... and we know why.

So-called holistic grazing is becoming more commonly discussed as a way to combat climate change, with the latest Netflix documentary Kiss the Ground also claiming that grazing livestock animals is beneficial for the planet.
